What a labour contract covers
In a labour contract, the contractor supplies and coordinates labour for an agreed work scope while the client or another appointed party purchases materials. The agreement should define activities, measurement rules, tools or equipment responsibilities and who keeps materials available for each stage.
What labour and material contracting covers
In a labour-and-material contract, the contractor coordinates both labour and the materials listed in the agreed scope. Specifications still matter: brands, grades, quantities, approved alternatives, storage, wastage and items supplied directly by the client should be recorded before execution.
Which model may suit your project
Labour-only contracting can suit owners, builders or architects who want direct control of procurement and can manage deliveries. Labour-and-material contracting can reduce day-to-day purchasing coordination when the scope and specifications are sufficiently detailed. Neither model is automatically better for every site.
What both scopes should document
Both models should state drawings, inclusions, exclusions, work sequence, measurement method, payment milestones, site access, safety responsibilities, debris handling, supervision and the process for approving changes. Structural execution should follow approved drawings and engineer guidance.
Questions to resolve before work starts
Discuss who purchases each item, who checks deliveries, which tools are included, how completed quantities are measured and what happens when drawings or material choices change. Sharing your Pune site location, project type, approximate area and timeline helps H&H SPACES prepare the right scope discussion.
